Untitled (Headstand) comes from a larger body of work entitled ‘Spinning in my Mother’s Garden: a search for subjectivity‘. This research looked into the possibility of female subjectivity in a society based in patriarchy. Navigating feminist thought through equality, difference and androgyny and considering the theories of Irigaray, Derrida, Kristeva and others.

Video, 4 min, 2009

The footage starts focused on a blank wall. A naked woman’s head appears from the top of the screen as she stands on her head, she then disappears the same way she appeared. She stands on her head repeatedly.
